Copper & Building Construction

Copper is used extensively in building wire, water piping, gas tubing, roofing, architectural building design, heating and air conditioning systems, interior and exterior artwork, doorknobs, lightning rods, faucets, and even fire sprinkler systems. In fact, the building products sector demands more copper every year than any other market sector.

Another important benefit of copper building products is that after their useful lifetimes, they are recycled. Due to the high demand for copper scrap material, the copper in building products is recovered, recycled, and used again - somewhere, somehow - for any of thousands of useful purposes.

What we do as market development programs

ICASEA is active in raising the awareness of the advantages and versatility of copper applications in building industry with various stakeholders. They include the regulators, housing development bodies, private developers, contractors, consultants, engineers & architects etc.

Our programs focus on enhancing safety, reliability, design, health and electrical efficiency.  These could be in correct sizing of building wire and cable, upsizing of wires/cables in aged buildings, the use of copper bus bars in switchboard, and last but not least, lightning protection systems. We also facilitate the setting up of building codes that use copper effectively, efficiently and safely.

These programs have a positive impact on increasing building owners’ profitability while helping tenants/occupiers reap more savings.  The efforts behind these programs pave the way to untapped markets in the region.

In addition, these programs provide networking opportunities for its members.  Recognition of ICASEA as the principal authority on copper is reflected in our significant partnerships with the various government agencies, regulatory authorities and building construction companies in the region.

ICASEA aims to bring other new programs to enhance focus on the role of copper in the building construction industry. We look forward to higher participation from potential members as well as sharing of expertise among strategic partners.

It's hard to imagine a building without copper.

The modern home, office or manufacturing plant would not be as comfortable, functional or electrically or thermally efficient without copper!
