Energy Efficiency in Industrial & Agricultural Sector

Congruent to all electrical energy efficiency programs of ICASEA, the Energy Efficiency Industrial & Agricultural Sectors program drives copper tonnage through increasing penetration of high efficiency products in the commercial and industrial sectors.

This program further advocates in regulatory changes, upgrading of supply chain capabilities, and creation of market demand for high energy efficiency products.

The program pillared three main areas, specifically, to develop business case studies and harness manufacturers’ participation / support, to establish energy efficiency levels and estimate energy savings, to conduct pilot projects to build end-user confidence and marketing campaigns to promote successful cases and to acquire funding schemes to further encourage take-ups and reduce initial cost barriers for effective market transformation.

Objective
- To increase the market share of energy efficient products in the Southeast Asian markets (primarily industrial motors and agricultural pump sets)

Main Scope

  • Develop business case studies and harness manufacturers participation/support
  • Establish energy efficiency levels and estimate energy savings
  • Pilot projects to build end-user confidence and marketing campaigns to promote successful cases
  • Financial/subsidy schemes to further encourage take-ups and reduce initial cost barriers

Planning Ahead - 2010 & Beyond

  • To establish Roadmap for Standards & Labeling (S&L) drafted in alignment with BRESL (Barrier Removal to the Cost Effective Development and Implementation of Energy Efficiency Standards and Labeling)
  • ICA sits on the BRESL Regional Project Steering Committee
  • ICA Country Managers collaborate with respective country teams to implement BRESL projects
  • To continue developing ASEAN S&L Harmonisation Program with ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE) and Energy Efficiency & Conservation Subsector Network (EE&C–SSN).
  • To continue development and implementation of pump replacement program in Thailand (in collaboration with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit, also known as GTZ and Department of Alternative Energy Development and Efficiency, also known as DEDE)
