Establishment of the ASEAN Energy Manager Accreditation Scheme

Under the ASEAN Energy Manager Accreditation Scheme (AEMAS) program, training and accreditation are provided for energy managers who implement sustainable energy management systems within their industries. Upon adoption and implementation of a sustainable energy management system, energy-intensive industries will seek for certification under the AEMAS. Certification is obtained only after demonstrating actual implementation of a sustainable energy management system and achievement of measurable energy savings.

The program objectives are therefore to reduce energy consumption from the manufacturing industrial sector in ASEAN. The program aims to directly result in savings of about 100,000 MWh, corresponding to a total of approximately 55,000 tCO2 emission reduction. The program will also contribute to increase the professional standing of accredited energy managers.

The program takes on strategic ties with regional credible bodies such as the ASEAN Center for Energy (ACE). This partnership will provide solid foundation for multilateral collaboration at the regional level to drive regulatory changes.
