Banjar Heads Electrical Safety Awareness Workshop

To
update the electrical community in Bali on the new revised PUIL
standard, CDC-SEA worked with PT PLN to spread positive messages to the
Bali residential village community. A variety of industry players turned up during the
event and explored information exchanges in the full-day event.
At the end of the event, the Banjar heads understood the importance of electrical safety. Surveys were gathered from participants for our next rewiring projects. The team also interviewed the Banjar heads to know more about Banjar areas

Knowledge and vocational skill competition

competition for Thai youths who excel in technical skills. The multi-disciplinary event aims to:
- Promote the image and status of technical/skilled personnel in Thailand
- Accord recognition to the special talents and skills of our youths
- Raise the standard of excellence in technical skills through competition
- Generate greater public awareness and interest in technical education
One of the category includes "Electrical Installation and Safety". As you already know, electrical safety is an important area of electrical installers' work. They must be able to install, maintain and repair equipment so that they are safe to use. They must adhere to safe working practices without endangering themselves or others. And preparing the new generation of installers to have the right technical knowledge is one of the key objectives in the Building and Construction program at CDC-SEA.

A dedicated forum covering the subject of Protection for Safety:
TCXDVN 394:2007 - Electrical Installation in Buildings in two cities, Hanoi and
Ho Chi Minh City.
We facilitated the event with keen support from the Ministry of Construction and Schneider Electric Vietnam to promote the new codes of TCXDVN 394:2007. Participants found the seminar useful in understanding the new code and its implementation in the workplace. This was a continuation to our promotion effort for TCXDVN 394:2007 and international standards in electrical safety practices.

It was reported in a Singapore daily, The Straits Times on 23 Nov 2007 that Cambridge University architecture professor thinks homes and buildings in Singapore could be much better designed for the steamy climate.
Some examples he cited include single glazed glass panels which are often used in Singapore. Problem with glass panels is that they absorb heat quickly while failing to maximise natural ventilation.

Signing Agreement with PLN Bali and other partners

Following a successful seminar organised by PLN Bali and CDC-SEA on 17 July 2007 on "PUlL 2000 Amendment 1 Electrical Safety Protection", a working group was formed to develop a more sustainable electrical safety campaign or Bali targeting at electrical designers, installers and homeowners.
This campaign was being facilitated and administered by PLN Bali with the support of CDC·SEA and together with
KONSUIL Bali, APEI Bali and AKLI Bali who have pledged to pool their resources and expertise to plan and implement an ongoing programme to serve as agent of change for electrical designs and installations to comply with PUlL's codes and standards. A Memorandum of Understanding was signed on 27 October 2007 to set out the framework on which they will work together.
PUIL-2000 Amendment 1 Workshop

This event was designed to lead to a Pilot project on furthering electrical safety messages in Bali. Initial plans include selection of a common facility for electrical safety audit and rewiring exercise. Watch out this space for more details soon!

We facilitated the event with keen support from the Ministry of Construction and Schneider Electric Vietnam to promote the new codes of TCXDVN 394:2007.
Participants found the seminar useful in understanding the new code and its implementation in the workplace. China's experiences have enabled Vietnam to anticipate potential barriers in implementing the new codes.
