Our Milestones

1992

  • Established the Singapore office as the Southeast Asia copper centre

1993

  • Launched Building Construction Market Development program with focuses in copper tubes

1994

  • Spearheaded Building Construction programs and copper piping programs in key Southeast Asian markets

1995

  • Identified need for Energy Efficiency market development program with focus in product applications

1996

  • Spearheaded high-efficiency motor programs and other energy efficiency programs in key markets

1997

  • Produced series of first-class videos in five ASEAN languages promoting benefits of copper plumbing systems

1998

  • Fostered close working relationship with the Hong Kong Housing Authority (HKHA) in promoting use of copper pipes in government housing estates

1999

  • Established the Thailand Office in Bangkok
  • Embarked on extensive training programme with HKHA in conjunction with the Authority’s massive plumbing upgrade programme to replace pipe-work in rental housing estates

2000

  • Produced the Indonesia PUIL 2000 with Foundation of the Electric Power Support Works (YUPTL) to educate the revised national electrical installation and safety code

2001

  • Established the Malaysia Office in Kuala Lumpur
  • Thailand National Energy Policy Council endorsed Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS) programme
  • Formed strategic partnership with the Asean Centre for Energy (ACE) to promote energy efficiency issues in the region and developed a program for harmonisation of energy efficiency standards and labelling for lighting ballasts in Southeast Asia

2002

  • Developed implementation guide and software tool – TMMS
  • Chaired a work group for the Energy Commission of Malaysia responsible for policy recommendations as part of Malaysia’s drive towards high-efficiency motors
  • Organized inaugural dialogue session for motor manufacturers and ASEAN’s Energy Efficiency and Conservation Sub-sector Network (EE&C-SSN); and presented a position paper that addressed various issues, such as motor efficiency rating standards and testing, involved in establishing common labelling and regulatory standards for HEMS

2003

  • TMMS nominated for the World Summit Awards
  • Organised first seminar in Vietnam on building wire for Vietnam Ministry of Industry (MOI) with speakers from Thailand and China to share experience
  • Signed official agreement with Asean Centre for Energy (ACE) to organise business-to-business events at the Asean Energy Business Forum and to jointly promote sustainable electrical energy, safety and quality of life
  • Organised joint workshop with MOI for Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City on “Developing a safe, reliable and energy efficient power system in Vietnam” with speakers from Vietnam, Thailand and China

2004

  • Start joint market study with Metropolitan Electricity Authority of Thailand for regional co-operation in electricity networks to achieve harmonisation of power distribution in the Greater Mekong Sub-region
  • Organised its first DIVIDENDs Dialogue in Manila in June 2004. With Creating Partnerships for Business as its theme. The conference was held in conjunction with the 22nd ASEAN Energy Ministers Meeting

2005

  • Served as key contributor to Thailand Industry Standard Institute (TISI) for TIS 2162-2547 Plug and Socket-Outlet Standard (General Requirement) being issued as a national standard
  • Worked closely with the Department of Alternative Energy Development and Efficiency (DEDE), to promote the increased use of High Efficiency Motors (HEMs)
  • A Memorandum of Understanding with Ministry of Construction (MOC) was signed to develop and issue a new Vietnam Construction Standard based on IEC standard for electrical design and installation in buildings in Vietnam
  • Introduced the new Minimum Efficiency Performance Standards (MEPS) for motors to the stakeholders, including Ministry of Industry (MOI), Ministry of Construction (MOC), Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), Institutions, and motors manufacturers. MEPS for motors, completed by CDC•SEA and Electrical Specialist Team (EST), was adopted by Vietnam Standards Centre as a national standard (TCVN 7540,2005)
  • Signed Memorandum of Understanding with five power utilities in Lower Mekong Sub-region namely, Metropolitan Electricity Authority of Thailand, Electricité du Laos (EDL), Electricité du Cambodge (EDC), Hanoi Power Company (HNPC) and Ho Chi Minh City Power Company (HCMCPC)

2006

  • Established the Indonesia Office in Jakarta
  • Completed market study with Metropolitan Electricity Authority of Thailand for the harmonisation of power distribution in the Greater Mekong Sub-region
  • Served as partner for the inauguration of official Energy Efficiency and Conservation facility in Vietnam with VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, National Energy Foundation of United Kingdom and Centre for Energy Environment Resources Development (CEERD)
  • Organised country-specific symposiums on “Copper and Power Quality Solutions” in Thailand and Indonesia. The exclusive event converge members of supply chain and utilities companies
 2007  
  • Second Memorandum of Understanding signed with Metropolitan Electricity Authority of Thailand to roll out Phase Two - Strategic Roadmap and Capacity Building programmes for the Harmonisation of Power Distribution System in LMS.
  • Official agreement and formed strategic partnership to launch a Electrical Safety Campaign in Bali with PT PLN, KONSUIL, APEI and AKLI.
  • New codes on TCX DVN 394:2007 (electrical installation in building - protection for safety) promoted in Vietnam with close collaboration with Ministry of Construction.
  • Memorandum of Understanding signed with Thai Electrical and Mechanical Contractors Association
    (TEMCA) to launch a series of capacity building programmes for skill development initiative in building wiring installation and electrical safety.
  • Branding campaign and Corporate and Visual Identity system launched
  • Led a stUdy tour for 14 delegates from Vietnam to
    China and Korea to learn and share experience on Energy Efficiency & Conservation (EE&C) programmes
  • Together with MEA. conducted feasibility study of copper underground cabling in Luang Prabang. a UNESCO World Heritage site in Laos, PDR.
