Launch of EU-APQI Philippines Chapter
Regional partnership seals commitment to mitigate power quality and demand-supply challenges

European Union - Asia Power Quality Initiative (EU-APQI) was launched on this day in Manila, Philippines at a workshop organized by EU-APQI Support Network, International Copper Association Southeast Asia Ltd (ICASEA) and Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers of the Philippines, Inc. (IIEE).

EU-APQI is envisioned to be a network of key Asian regional and local stakeholders that will support the awareness raising and capacity building activities to be implemented under the EU-APQI project in Asia. The assembled participants were addressed by EU-APQI committee members who elucidated on the EU-APQI Chapter and the role it would play to address vital issues relating to power quality in the region.

Industries need to reduce power use and improve technology to avoid a looming power crisis

ICASEA demonstrates its commitment for efficient energy and climate change by supporting the Vietnam Earth Hour. This event is also supported by the Electricity of Vietnam, Energy Conservation Centre and the Green Club. Earth Hour is an international event created by the WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature/World Wildlife Fund) that asks households and businesses to turn off their non-essential lights and electrical appliances for one hour to raise awareness towards the need to take action on climate change.

U.S. EPA Approves Registration of Antimicrobial Copper Alloys
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has approved the registration of antimicrobial copper alloys, with public health claims. These public health claims acknowledge that copper, brass and bronze are capable of killing harmful, potentially deadly bacteria. Copper is the first solid surface material to receive this type of EPA registration, which is supported by extensive antimicrobial efficacy testing.
