Why do you advocate Copper over other materials?

Copper is one of the most useful metal ever discovered by man. Its many strengths have long been exploited in industries as diverse as plumbing, building and construction, electrical and electronics as well as telecommunications. Using Copper has many advantages. It is not only versatile, durable, impermeable, resistant to both corrosion and pressure, but also excellent value-for-money. Copper also possesses anti-microbial properties that inhibit the growth harmful bacteria, viruses, fungi and mold.

How does the CDC•SEA promote Copper regionally? Does the CDC•SEA promote Members' products or brands specifically?

CDC•SEA promotes the Copper industry by actively participating in trade shows regionally, advertising in trade journals and magazines as well as sponsoring research studies. We also help raising awareness of the superiority of Copper through professional training seminars for people in relevant industries and publicity targeted at the general public. The CDC•SEA is dedicated to the Copper industry and does not endorse any particular brand of Copper.

It is said Copper has many health benefits. What are they?

Copper is needed by all human beings to maintain health. It is an essential component of dietary nutrition that enables the body to metabolise and function properly.

Since Copper is an essential micronutrient, it does not present health risks at levels normally ingested from food and water. Studies have shown that Copper in humans is involved in the functioning of human enzymes and is required for infant growth, the transport of glucose and cholesterol, brain development, and heart, liver, nerve and immune system functions. It is used therapeutically to treat skin disorders and bacterial infection, to counteract cases of phosphorous poisoning and to combat gout and some cancers.

How is CDC•SEA related to the ICA?
CDC•SEA is established by the ICA to devote more energy in the promotion of Copper in South East Asia. CDC•SEA is funded by members of the ICA. Like other Copper Development Centres around the world, we are a contractor for the various ICA-supported promotion programs. The Centre implements promotional activities through interaction with local as well as regional Copper producers and fabricators.

Why is Copper environmentally friendly?
Copper is a highly recyclable material. A very high proportion of Copper systems is manufactured from recycled material. Off-cuts of material from installation work and Copper systems removed from old or refurbished buildings, are often returned, re-melted and refined - thus helping to conserve the planet's natural resources.
